The U.S. Congress has mandated that TV stations end analog broadcasting in the United States on or before June 12, 2009. All full-power stations will be converting to all-digital broadcasting. The vast majority of Slingbox users will be unaffected by the DTV transition. All you need to do is confirm with your cable or satellite provider that you are DTV ready. If you also utilize the over-the-air tuner functionality found in some Slingboxes, you may need to take steps to be DTV ready.
Canadian residents should note that Canada's digital transition is now scheduled for 2011, but you will need to get DTV ready now if you view U.S. broadcast stations over the border today.
The Slingboxes potentially affected are:
| Slingbox "Classic" | Slingbox TUNER | Slingbox PRO |
|---|
 | | |
These three Slingboxes include an analog tuner, and will not be able to receive digital broadcasts after the DTV transition. Please note that the other features of these Slingboxes (e.g., ability to receive cable and satellite programming) will continue to work.
If you do want to receive digital over-the-air broadcasts and have a Slingbox "Classic" or Slingbox PRO, you may be able to connect it to a digital-to-analog converter box. More information on those boxes and government programs can be found at the links below.
If you receive over-the-air broadcasts on a Slingbox TUNER today, you will need to connect your Slingbox to an analog cable TV service that does not require a set-top box.
The Slingboxes not affected are:
| Slingbox AV |
Slingbox SOLO |
Slingbox PRO-HD |
 |

|

|
The Slingbox AV and SOLO do not have over-the-air tuners in them, so they are unaffected by the DTV transition. The tuner in the Slingbox PRO-HD is compatible with both analog and digital broadcasts, so you're ready to view over-the-air broadcasts after the transition to DTV.
