As a Product Manager for OEM Products, your job will be to define, drive and deliver Sling's innovative technologies for integration into our partners' and customers' products. You will interface directly with our external customers and partners to develop a keen understanding of their requirements and develop Sling solutions that meet these requirements. Internally, you will work closely with Product Marketing, Engineering, Senior Management, UI design, QA, and our Beta group to understand and turn the customer's requirements into products. This position requires a solid understanding of the Consumer Electronics (CE), Digital TV (DTV), and Settop Box (STB) industries, as well as an ability to work with complex technical architectures, a passion for user-experience, and strong communication skills. Experience with streaming protocols over IP networks is highly desirable.
- Subject matter expert for CE, DTV and STB industries.
- Commands a deep understanding of digital video and audio technology, silicon and SW roadmaps, networking technologies, product requirements, and overall customer and market place dynamics.
- Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Understanding and documenting customer-specific product requirements.
- Writing product data sheets, white papers, and technical application notes.
- Supporting Sales team in developing Sling Media pricing strategies.
- Teams with cross functional departments to develop and implement product roadmaps, architectures and development strategy.
- Collaborates closely with assigned Engineering Leads to develop project milestones and to track development progress against published milestones.
- Sets the priority for product requirements (feature-set, timing, cost, etc.) and directs other organizations within the Company appropriately.
- Tracks risks to programs and puts in place appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Has ultimate responsibility to insure delivery of products that meets agreed upon customer specifications and Company's business objectives.
- Travels domestically and internationally to meet with customers.
- Acts as the key customer and market internal advocate for new product requirements and product related customer satisfaction matters.
- Assists with development and delivery of complex presentations and proposals to customers and partners to ensure understanding of Sling Media solutions.
- Must be able to research and analyze industry periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, technical papers, and product datasheets.
- Has the ability to formulate and write detailed white papers, technical notes, application proposals, product requirement documents, and RFP responses.
- Can effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Seven plus years of experience in Product Management/Delivery required.
- Prior CE/DTV/STB product development/management experience required.
- Technical degree and strong analytical skills required.
- Understanding of key SW and silicon technologies relating to the CE/DTV/STB industries is critical. Specific experience with satellite and/or cable settop box development is a strong plus. Experience interacting with DTV operators/service-providers/MSO's is a strong plus.
- Experience with video-over-IP is highly desirable.
- Ability to develop and deliver products to aggressive schedules.
- Have exceptional communications skills and be able to deal with cross-functional teams across multiple geographies including California and Bangalore (India).
