Sling Media Scores Emmy Award

Las Vegas – Consumer Electronics Show (CES) – January 9th, 2007 – Last night at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences award ceremonies, Sling Media, Inc., a digital lifestyle products company, was awarded the prestigious Technology & Engineering Emmy® award for its breakthrough product, the Slingbox™. The company was honored in the Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for the Creation of Non-Traditional Programs or Platforms Category.

The Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards honor achievements in two areas: Science Engineering & Technology for Broadcast Television, which includes broadcast, cable and satellite distribution and Broadband and Personal Television which encompasses interactive television, gaming technology, the Internet, cell phones, private networks and personal media players.

 

What is a Slingbox?

 

The Slingbox is a breakthrough consumer electronics product that enables consumers to watch their living room TV programming from wherever they are by turning virtually any Internet-connected Windows-based laptop or desktop, Mac or any Windows Mobile, Palm OS or Symbian-based device into a personal TV. The Slingbox redirects, or "placeshifts," a single live TV stream from a cable box, satellite receiver, or DVR to the viewer's PC-located anywhere in the home or anywhere in the world, via the Internet.
